Indications

Treatment of folate deficiency anemia caused by poor diet, poor absorption of food (As in celiac disease) or a digestive disorder called sprue, treatment due to increased use of folate in the body (During pregnancy). Prevention for folate deficiency caused by some medications (For example, what is used to treat epilepsy, such as phenytoin, phenobarbital, and primidone), prevention for folate deficiency caused by long-term damage to blood cells or renal dialysis, prevention of neural tube defects in babies (for example, spina bifida), where the woman is at high risk of having an affected child.
